1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Parkinson’s Resilience Institute (“PRI,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of PRI websites, applications, digital platforms, educational materials, support programs, events, online communities, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing, browsing, registering for, participating in, or using PRI Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use PRI Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use PRI Services independently.
If you are using PRI Services on behalf of an organization, healthcare provider, caregiver, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
3. Mission and Nature of Services
PRI provides educational resources, support programming, resilience-focused information, community engagement opportunities, advocacy initiatives, digital tools, and related services concerning Parkinson’s disease and related conditions. PRI does not provide emergency medical services. Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, PRI is not acting as:
A licensed medical provider
A physician practice
A hospital or healthcare facility
A mental health treatment provider
A crisis intervention service
A substitute for professional medical care
4. Medical Disclaimer
Information provided through PRI Services is for informational, educational, advocacy, wellness, and support purposes only. PRI content should not be interpreted as:
Medical advice
Diagnosis
Treatment recommendations
Professional healthcare guidance
Emergency healthcare instructions
Users should consult qualified healthcare professionals regarding medical conditions, symptoms, diagnoses, medications, or treatment decisions. Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking care because of information obtained through PRI Services. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate emergency medical assistance.
5. Mental Health and Crisis Disclaimer
PRI may discuss emotional wellness, resilience, stress management, caregiver support, or quality-of-life issues. PRI does not provide:
Crisis counseling
Suicide intervention services
Emergency psychiatric care
Licensed psychotherapy unless explicitly identified
If you or someone else may be in danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, contact emergency services, 988, or an appropriate crisis resource immediately.
6. User Accounts
Certain Services may require registration or account creation. Users agree to:
Provide accurate and current information
Maintain confidentiality of account credentials
Notify PRI of unauthorized account access
Accept responsibility for activities occurring under their accounts
PRI reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risks to PRI, its users, or the public.
7. Privacy and HIPAA
Use of PRI Services is also governed by the PRI Privacy Policy. Where applicable, PRI may maintain safeguards designed to comply with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations. Users acknowledge that:
Not all PRI communications or platforms are intended for transmission of Protected Health Information (“PHI”)
Public forums and community spaces may not be secure or private
Users should exercise caution when sharing sensitive medical information online
Where PRI operates as a business associate or collaborates with covered healthcare entities, separate agreements or notices may apply.
8. Community Standards and User Conduct
Users agree not to:
Violate any law or regulation
Harass, threaten, abuse, or intimidate others
Share false, misleading, or harmful medical information
Impersonate another person or organization
Post defamatory, obscene, hateful, or discriminatory content
Upload malware or malicious code
Attempt unauthorized access to PRI systems
Disrupt or interfere with Services
Collect user information without authorization
Use PRI Services for commercial solicitation without permission
Exploit vulnerable individuals or patients
PRI reserves the right to remove content or restrict access at its discretion.
9. User Content and Submissions
Users may submit content including comments, stories, testimonials, survey responses, discussion posts, images, videos, or other materials (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant PRI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

Distribute
Archive
Create derivative works from such content in connection with PRI operations, educational initiatives, advocacy, fundraising, marketing, research, or program activities.
You represent that:
You own or control rights to the submitted content
The content does not violate laws or third-party rights
You have appropriate permissions from identifiable individuals appearing in submitted materials
PRI is not obligated to publish or maintain User Content.
10. Testimonials and Success Stories
Testimonials and personal stories shared through PRI Services reflect individual experiences and may not represent typical outcomes. PRI does not guarantee specific health, emotional, therapeutic, or lifestyle results.
11. Donations and Payments
Donations made to PRI are generally voluntary and non-refundable unless required by law. Users agree to provide accurate payment information when making donations, purchases, or registrations. PRI may use third-party payment processors. PRI does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of payment services.
12. Events and Programs
Participation in PRI events, workshops, support groups, webinars, or programs may involve physical, emotional, or technological risks. Users voluntarily assume risks associated with participation. PRI reserves the right to:

Cancel or reschedule events
Refuse participation
Remove disruptive attendees

“Parkinson’s Resilience Institute,” PRI logos, program names, slogans, and related branding elements may constitute trademarks or service marks. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

PRI respects intellectual property rights. If you believe material on PRI Services infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice containing:

24. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
25. Dispute Resolution
PRI encourages good-faith efforts to resolve disputes informally. To the extent permitted by law, disputes arising from these Terms may be resolved through:

Binding arbitration
unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
Any legal action not subject to arbitration shall be brought in courts located in Texas.
26. Termination
PRI may suspend or terminate access to Services at any time, with or without notice, for:
Violations of these Terms

Fraudulent conduct
Legal compliance obligations
Protection of PRI or its users
Users may discontinue use of Services at any time.
27. Changes to Terms
PRI may update these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated. Continued use of PRI Services after updates constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
28. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.
29. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the PRI Privacy Policy and any additional agreements or notices provided for specific services, constitute the entire agreement between users and PRI regarding use of the Services.

32. Nonprofit and Charitable Organization Disclaimer
PRI operates as a nonprofit or mission-driven organization dedicated to education, advocacy, resilience, and support related to Parkinson’s disease and related conditions. References to programs, resources, support initiatives, or wellness concepts do not constitute guarantees of outcomes, medical efficacy, or healthcare treatment success.
33. Force Majeure
PRI shall not be liable for delays or failures resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including:
Natural disasters
Public health emergencies
Cyberattacks
Internet outages
Government actions
Labor disputes
Utility failures
Acts of war or terrorism
Third-party service interruptions
34. Electronic Communications Consent
By using PRI Services, users consent to receiving electronic communications from PRI including:

Users are responsible for maintaining accurate contact information.
35. Export Compliance and Restricted Use

36. No Professional-Client Relationship
Use of PRI Services does not create:
Physician-patient relationships
Therapist-client relationships
Attorney-client relationships
Fiduciary relationships
Formal care-management relationships
unless expressly established through separate written agreements.
